Barker launches ‘Green Castle’ at Hurstmonceux

Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker has unveiled a new 50kWp Solar PV system installed at Herstmonceux Castle, East Sussex. The technology from Ecosphere Renewables is part of a Green Castle initiative launched by Hurstmonceux Castle, home of the Bader International Study Centre.
EAST SUSSEX, 2 August 2013 – Ecosphere installed a 50kWp Solar PV system which should generate over 50,000 kWh’s of electricity and save over 500 tons of CO2 over 25 years. The college will benefit from greatly reduced bills and will generate an income via The Feed in Tariff resulting in a 13.5 per cent annual ROI and a 7-year pay back.
Ecosphere Renewables are delighted to working with The Bader International Study Centre located in Herstmonceux Castle, East Sussex on its ‘Green Castle Initiative’. This initiative commits the Bader International Study Centre to reducing the carbon footprint at Herstmonceux Castle by employing renewable technologies including Solar PV, Heat Pumps and Biomass.
The scheme also serves as a teaching and learning complex on the Herstmonceux Estate where students from around the world can study sustainability, microgeneration, renewable energy, and responsible global stewardship.
